During the school holidays I haven't had a chance to blog as much as normal.
Been busy with these...
But who can resist this?
For an autistic child, he has sooooo much expression doesn't he?!?!?
Anyhoo, started a big canvas yesterday and think its finished. Its about 600mm x 100mm (haven't measured it), but it was nice to work on something big for a change.
I THINK its finished....jury's still out on that one...
I enjoyed playing with colour...

I've managed to squeeze a few more art journal pages in amongst all my school holiday activities!
Obiously I haven't gotten up to the "prettying up" stage as yet - you know the sewing, beading, etc. but I thought I'd share anyway.
All good fun - and I seem to be having a bit of a colour theme for this one - I like it so I think I'll continue this one along those lines.

Well, welcome to 2012!!!
With the new year comes new beginnings in many things.
Here's one of my new beginnings for this year...an art journal.
A few backgrounds made (nothing flash I might add - plenty of time to play with them I reckon); experiments with watercolours...I do believe I like them...but all done this year.
My art journals have no particular story in mind; no particular meaning much....they are just me playing with "stuff" and wherever the moment takes me.
Hope your new beginnings are coming along nicely too!
I will be more than happy to see the end of 2011 and I know I'm not alone on this one!
What a chaotic year it has been for so many!
I wanted to make a bit of positive affirmation for all of us as we say farewell to 2011, so I've made this.
Its on of my favourite sayings and I know alot of us struggle with it.
We constantly battle again self doubt and give too much credit to those negative voices that live within us.
Let's try to let them go with the ending of this year.
Let's embrace those parts of us that we know are meant to shine and follow a future filled with discovery and acceptance of self.

I've put some of my dad's old flying maps inside as well as some of my mother's old music sheets and some pages to journal on, so its got part of me in there too...but she'll see that anyway.
I know she'll love it.
And I know she needs it at the moment.
Also, one of my 9yo's sat down and made on at the same time.
ALL done by him!!! Every single piece!!!
He is going to be an amazing artist one day!!!
Well, its Christmas Eve here now and we've got a busy day baking and getting the house ready for Santa's visit!
Its nice to be playing with art again I must say.
This is one I did the other day - its only 8" x 8" but that's the only canvas I had here so its better than nothing!
Titled "NO MORE", it is meant to be a woman who has just had enough, who has found her strength and just refuses to play the game any more. Sure of who she is, she will not be pushed around by others. She is determined.
As usual, layers of "personal" stuff underneath.

Our home has been a hive of activity (as are most homes this time of the year!).
School holidays are in full swing and keeping the boys busy (without sitting in front of a screen of some sort!) means we're doing a lot of walking, playing tennis, baking and art making.
I'm exhausted LOL!!!

and I've made this to put in with my niece's Christmas pressie (just for her to hang on her door)

I've also picked up a paint brush - not entirely happy with her, but I'll show you anyway..
