Huh?

Listening

I'm learning so much lately.

In the midst of so much change (positive changes though...) I am learning to listen to my gut, my "inner me", my "intuition" whatever you like to call it which, previously, I had just written off as "me being stupid", "me being paranoid", "you're dreaming!", etc., etc.

Its a good lesson to learn.  

Shame it took me 47 years to learn it.  

But its better than taking 48 years to learn it!

Here's a painting I finished today.  

Its big - 30" x 20" and I'm happy with it.

and a close-up of her beautiful (I think anyway!) eyes...

As always, lots of textures, vintage ephemera that is special to me, etc., etc.

Saturday morning's sketch

I do try and grab a pencil or two while the boys and I are sitting down having breakfast.

Here's this morning's effort.

Nothing too flash, but its a start!

It will be interesting to see how she turns over (or what she turns into!)

Art Journalling again

A bit stoopid....but done!

Its all about having fun isn't it?!?!?

Well, this looks like SERIOUS fun to me!

That's what I intend to play with today!

Moments

You know those moments?

The ones that stop you in your tracks and you KNOW that things will be alright?

The ones that fill you with that glorious peaceful feeling?

Despite the turmoil that is my life in my current situation, I've been alot of "those" moments.

I just need to remember that there will be MORE of those to come.

Here's an 18" x 18" canvas I did to remind me.

Breathe in those moments.

Hold onto them.

Remember, there will be more of them.

You will flourish.

You will bloom.

You will fly.

Always go forward...

Some of my strongest and longest memories come from my maternal Grandparents.

A few words of wisdom that my Grandfather (I miss you every day Grandad!) said for as long as I remember and which I even read out in his eulogy 12 years ago were...

"Never go back.  Always go forward"

So simple. 

And what a philosophy it is, particularly considering some of his life experiences during his 90 years on this Earth.

With all the changes happening in my life right now, its amazing how often I hear Grandad's words in my mind.

Which has inspired this.

A 30" x 24" mixed media canvas titled "Always Go Forward".

She is not "pretty"....but then not many of my paintings are.

But she is strong.

And I like that.

The "sparkly bits" are actually mica (in case you were wondering) and she is done with many layers of vintage music (another one of my hobbies is playing the piano) which is special to me, and other personalised vintage ephemera, with journalling in the background.

Its good to share the good and the not so good!

Life has been very busy for me (so in other words, nothing much has changed).

Here's a little something that's been keeping everyone on our toes.

I have been feeling very alone of late and I can't tell you how much it means to me - this is one of the positive sides of the internet and its wonderful to know that there ARE people out there in our big world that really do give a damn!

Art Journalling (albiet on a canvas)

Life seems to be going on as glamorous as ever here.

Going through "stuff" that is just plain hard.

Sometimes I get sick and tired of being strong.

Anyhoo, here's something a little different for me.

Nothing spectacular, but I guess its really just art journalling onto a 18" x 18" canvas.

I know this will happen.

and I DO have many moments of know this.

I just have to be patient.

Ack!

NOT one of my strong points LOL!!!

Moving on.....

Haven't had much of a chance or desire to blog of late with all the goings on in my life, but wanted to check in and let you know I'm alive!

Actually, although things have been fairly stressful, I must say I do believe I will thrive - finally!!!

Lots to do, lots to organise, a new home to find, etc., etc. 

All good fun.

Importantly, I have continued creating!

Its so interesting for me to see the changes in my work - almost immediate it seems!

Here's a big one (I think its about 20" x 30" but I really have no idea....)

As always, layers of vintage gorgeousness, things that are meaningful to me, etc...

And a wee bird!

Its very different for me!

And she looks so serene (I think!)
