Moving on

 

Today marks an end for my little family.

Today we move to a new home, to start a new life.

It is scary, it is exciting, it is strange, it is wonderful.

Strangely, I do not feel sadness. I feel relief.

I am looking forward to the new adventures that life holds for me and my boys.

Strong and beautiful

I know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

This year, its very personal because I have a dear friend, Tamar, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and is brave enough to share her story here.  Seriously worthwhile subscribing to Tamar's blog as she is a brilliant blogger and shares lots of fabulous posts that will definitely interest you!

I had a day to myself yesterday and, although almost all of my art supplies are packed away for our upcoming move, I managed to do this...just for her. 

I thought you might also like to see it too.

She is "The Warrior", an 10" x 12" canvas.

She is strong and beautiful (even though I didn't have my paints available!!).

And I have used some of my great grandmother's lace on her dress because its beautiful and I wanted to!

I am constantly amazed by the strength and beauty of "everyday" women. 

Everyone has their story.

Ahhh....its a glamorous life!!!

Haven't had the chance to spend much time on the 'puter of late!

But I wanted you to know I'm still alive and kicking!

Sadly my creativity has had to take a step backwards for a wee while, but hopefully that will be fixed up soon!

Then there was my very first try at painting a portrait in profile.....its only 8" x 8" and its green because that was the colour paint that was on the table.....but its good to play with a different palette right?

Hmmm...methinks I need more practise in profiles....but you've gotta start somewhere...

And what I've learned about drawing is that I actually prefer painting!  So that's a good thing!  I think. 

But I've been spending MOST of my time (aside from looking after children, running around looking for a new place to live, etc., etc.) doing this.

Hopefully I'll find something suitable soon (fingers crossed on one I looked at yesterday!) and will be back in the land of the living again!

Life Interupted

I resigned myself to a whole heap of stuff this weekend - It was my get my head sorted weekend as Richard headed off to NZ for work for the week - It was totally unavoidable - and the timing could not be worse but that's the way things roll sometimes. At least after this trip he will be home for some months.
